DESCRIPTION OF THE WORKS
This work involves building the infrastructure for a new narrow gauge (1,000 mm) single track railway for the section of the Belgrano Railway located between the towns of Laguna Paiva and Naré, province of Santa Fe. The main railway track length is 47,400 meters.
The works include weeding and clearing the area along the line, demolishing infrastructures that are placed on railroads to respect natural runoffs and building new culverts; installing wire fences, level crossings, earthworks, and removing and replacing the existing track. Also laying ballast and compacting it through mechanized tamping to ensure the finish is aligned with the track. The entire stretch includes 54 E1 rails with welded joints forming a long welded rail mounted on prestressed concrete monoblock sleepers and elastic fasteners. The contract also calls for the construction of two new turnouts and laying trenching and tritube pipes along the track to enable the future installation of fiber optics.
The project aims to improve current infrastructure and rolling stock conditions as well as upgrade the facilities along the General Belgrano Railroad sections, making it possible to increase the network’s cargo transportation, optimizing operations and helping to boost regional economies and production centers as well as tackle related socio-environmental issues.
