DESCRIPTION OF WORKS
The project is a cultural complex consisting of a main hall and a smaller secondary one, with support areas for artists, workshops, rehearsal rooms, public and administrative area, large landscaped areas and parking lots.
The base surrounds the the main hall building under the guise of a solid block, clad in San Juan travertine marble. From the center of this block rises the imposing hall with its stage decked out in Corten steel, a reference to the earthy tones of the San Juan mountains. The main facade is a great arch symbolizing the Bicentennial portal, with a free span of 63 meters and 6 meters in height which constitutes the main entrance to the building.
The main hall consists of the stalls and two tiers of boxes in Platten of a wenge color in the form of poles which were specially designed by the acoustic engineers. The stage, whose dimensions are similar to those of the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires City, has a rotating platform 16 meters in diameter, a raised orchestra pit for 100 musicians and a mobile acoustic diffuser.
The massive structure needed to erect this iconic work was studied in detail as it is located in a seismic zone. For this purpose amounts of up to 359 kg/m3 were used.
